Shar architecture

Founded in 1999 by architect Carlos Sánchez, this studio is characterized by its passion and commitment to every project. Carlos leads a multidisciplinary team of more than 40 professionals with extensive experience in urban planning, architecture, interior design, engineering, and construction. Over the years, we have designed various types of buildings, including residential, hotels, offices, healthcare, educational, religious, sports, and cultural centers, always seeking close collaboration with our clients to achieve the best results.

Today

Currently, the majority of our professional activity is in the field of social and healthcare architecture and Senior Living. This is the result of a specialization process that allows us to confidently encompass everything from the design of new residences, renovations and/or expansions of existing facilities, adaptation of other types and uses to social and healthcare, interior design, construction management, and project management; to the preparation of preliminary diagnoses to identify opportunities based on our urban planning and economic feasibility studies.

Since the studio’s inception, social and healthcare architecture has been the type of architecture with the highest volume of commissions. To date, we have worked on more than 100 senior residences. In total, the project area covers more than 500,000 square meters and over €350 million under management.

We operate in virtually all the Autonomous Communities, which has given us a precise understanding of the specifics of their various sectoral regulations, as well as the different criteria of each of their Ministries in the application of the CTE (Constitutional Code of the Spanish Constitution). This allows us to generate trust among our clients in the evaluation and resolution of conflicts in the processing of permits and licenses.

Work philosophy

Since the studio’s inception, our work has been focused on creating value for our clients and achieving maximum efficiency in their financial investment, with functional, high-quality architecture that pays attention to every detail, respects the environment, and is independent of current trends, yet maintains a modern image.

Our accumulated experience helps us develop a comprehensive understanding of architecture and ensure that each new project is enriched with sensibilities that are often foreign to a specific sector, but that help us improve and humanize living and working environments. Our commitment to sustainability, the importance of proper architectural accessibility, the appropriate use of natural light, and the psychological effect of color are always pillars that support each of our projects.

The move from one’s home to a new, more public environment can be traumatic for many people and their families. Our “obsession” is trying to minimize this potential psychological impact, using all available tools to bring the user to a welcoming space, where they can feel at home and enjoy all the amenities, with opportunities to share, but without losing moments and places of privacy.

Our mission is to create an attractive and stimulating environment, both for our clients and the residents who live there, and, at the same time, functional for the staff who work in our buildings.

Our culture is built on a foundation of enthusiasm, a positive team attitude, and achievement. We are optimistic and, through multidisciplinary collaborative work, we are always seeking new avenues to achieve continuous improvement in our daily work, from improving a program by maximizing available space and budget to pursuing excellence in detail and good taste.

This vision goes beyond the integration of architecture. We want our work to have a humble, positive impact on the world: from successful business management to the way our designs help residents live more sustainable lives in their new homes.

We are aware of the great complexity of coordinating different stakeholders, the importance of collaborative work, and that new technologies can help improve our efficiency. Therefore, we are in the process of implementing the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology in the design phase for subsequent implementation during construction.

Environmental
Commitment

Finally, we are committed to gradually reducing the energy consumption of our buildings throughout their entire life cycle. We believe this is an essential requirement now to ensure the future. Therefore, in each project, we strive to improve upon the previous one, exploring new approaches to energy efficiency, both active and passive, as well as incorporating recyclable materials locally sourced from local sources and using production processes with low energy and environmental impact.
